The Chabine Prod label is proud to announce the arrival of a new talent on the music scene: Idy.
Born to Senegalese parents and raised in Guadeloupe between Pointe-à-Pitre and the island of Marie-Galante, the young artist offers “a music rich in history and roots” (…) “whose sounds subtly mix afrobeat and Caribbean influences”.
Idy made his first official steps in the music industry with “Wandedu”, which in Yoruba means “to ward off spirits”. Through this vibrant, danceable track, the emerging artist “addresses the need to detach oneself from bad energies to better refocus, regain balance and move towards one’s goals”.
The accompanying video was directed by Jima Kanor, and it aims to “transport the viewer into a colorful and introspective universe”.
With this first single, Idy asserts a strong musical identity, at the crossroads of Africa and the West Indies.
“Wandedu” has been available on all legal download platforms since June 6.
