That’s it, Reggae Gold 2021 is now available! Indeed, on September 17, 2021, VP Records released its famous compilation that has been around for 28 years. This annual collection features the best tracks of the genre from the past year.
Celebrating the energy of summer, the compilation includes “Go Down Deh” by Spice with Shaggy and Sean Paul, “Heartbreak Anniversary” by Tarrus Riley, “Nice Up The Dance” by Kabaka Pyramid, “Smooth” featuring Skillibeng by Jahvillani, “Drop” by Noah Powa and “Best Life” by Gyptian, among others.
But, “exclusive to this year’s collection is “Welcome to Jamaica” by Reggae star Jah Cure. The sweet ode to the nation that has given Reggae to the world is an enticement that will encourage visitors to visit and catch some sun and enjoy the country’s vibes“, says Natasha Von Castle of VP Records. About his song, Jah Cure says : “There is no other place in the world like Jamaica, everyone must go there. They will get a warm welcome”. This is a great way to help boost tourism on the island, which has been heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Reggae Gold 2021 was launched in partnership with the SummerStage concert series in New York. A free concert entitled Reggae Gold Meets Soca Gold took place on Wednesday 15 September at the Ford Amphitheatre in Coney Island from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Several reggae stars such as Gyptian, Noah Powa and Chromatic Sound, came from Jamaica to participate in this event hosted by Kevin Crown.
This show required proof of full vaccination or a negative Covid-19 PCR test administered within 72 hours prior to entry.
Fans who were unable to attend the show were able to watch it in streaming.
