Heritage Days : “Jénès Doubout” exhibits its beautiful creole costumes

On the occasion of the 34th edition of the European Heritage Days, whose theme is “Youth and Heritage”, dozens of events are organized in Guadeloupe and Martinique on September 16 and 17. Because of the damage caused by hurricane Irma in Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy, it is impossible for these two French islands in the Caribbean to participate in this very popular annual event.

Your magazine Kariculture.net has visited the very beautiful exhibition entitled “Biguine d’Antan, Biguine d’Aujourd’hui” (Biguine of the Past, Biguine of Today) organized at Rémi Nainsouta Hall in Pointe-à-Pitre by the cultural association “Jénès Doubout” with its biguine troupe “Viré Gadé”, from September 15 to 30.

A very attractive program has been prepared by the organizers in order to highlight this traditional music : on Wednesday, September 20 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, a debate on the great masters of biguine ; on Saturday, September 23 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, a karaoke in family with the participation of young people ; on Saturday, September 30 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, a fashion show in vintage and modern costumes with the orchestra “Accordéon Ka” and from 8:00 pm to11:00 pm, a grand ball to celebrate biguine.

For its part, Kariculture.net has decided to show you some beautiful creole costumes from Guadeloupe presented by this association chaired by Prudence Rubrice, as part of this exhibition.
