From May 15 to July 5 (daily from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm), the Fondation Clément, located in the town of Le François in Martinique, invites the public to discover the works of three talented Martinican artists: Fred Eucharis, Hector Charpentier, and Mickaël Bé Caruge. In addition, a journey through contemporary Caribbean art is offered in a group exhibition, from May 8 to June 28, daily from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm. These exhibitions are free and do not require reservations.

“Du visible à l’essentiel” (From the Visible to the Essential) by Fred Eucharis
Through his work, Fred Eucharis has been exploring the relationships between figuration and abstraction, forms and colors for many years. Inspired by Caribbean scenes, he seeks to translate a personal perception of harmony and beauty.
His painting, nourished by music, his artistic influences, and a large variety of movements – from fauvism to cubism – is characterized by a search for balance, chromatic richness, and a material worked with sensitivity…(Fondation Clément)

“Intemporelle, un temps pour elle” (Timeless, a time for her) by Hector Charpentier
At the heart of this exhibition, Hector Charpentier develops the concept of “figurabstraction”, a pictorial approach that goes beyond the opposition between figuration and abstraction to propose a space where visible and the mental world coexist.
His works are built in layers, where the human figure, often female, occupies a central place, surrounded by abstract forms and chromatic fields. This arrangement invites the viewer’s gaze to move between presence and interiority, between reality and spiritual space…(Fondation Clément)

“Rêve diurne” (Daydream) by Mickaël Bé Caruge
Mickaël Bé Caruge’s exhibition highlights a pictorial practice that progressively asserts a symbolic dimension, by giving an essential place to drawing and meaningful objects.
His work is characterized by a wide variety of techniques and languages, as well as by the recurring presence of the body and the self-portrait. Through the use of color, which has become descriptive, and expressive patterns, the artist offers a personal interpretation of the world, between observation, memory, and imagination…(Fondation Clément)
