Marie-Line Dahomay and her guests in the “Douvan, Douvan” concert

Marie-Line Dahomay

This exceptional concert will take place on May 22, 2025 at 7:00 pm at the Sonis Cultural Center in Les Abymes.

May is the month of commemoration of the abolition of slavery in Guadeloupe and Martinique. What better way to celebrate than with traditional music and dance invented by slaves.

Thus, the Vwakalité association – which works around the spoken voice in all its artistic and professional forms with vocal coaches – is inviting the audience to attend the concert featuring Guadeloupean gwoka singer Marie-Line Dahomay, Martinican bèlè dancer La Sosso, singer and member of the Fanmkika gwoka group Nikol Valton and young Guadeloupean singer and musician Célia Wa.

These talented women artists will be accompanied by several musicians: David Éliezer (piano, sax), Claudy Droux Clamy (bass), Réjis Kayneex Gambou Guercy (guitar), Kristof Garain (ka, conga, percussion), Éric Godard (djembe, ka), Gustav Michaux-Vignes (bata, conga), Stéphanie Maréchaux and Véronique Vaïtilingon (backing singers) and José Gérard Toucet (technical director).

Note that Guadeloupean trumpeter Franck Nicolas will also be part of this great evening.
