Carnival of Guadeloupe: last lap before Fat Days

Last weekend, Guadeloupe once again lived to the rhythm of Carnival. This Saturday, February 15, some groups, in particular the “skin groups”, paraded the children in the streets of Pointe-à-Pitre, some schools, in particular that of the town of Goyave, also organized the parade for toddlers and, on Sunday February 16, it was a kind of general rehearsal for all the parades that will take place during this “Fat Days”. The vast majority, about fifty, of “snare drum groups” met in the town of Capesterre Belle-Eau for the 8th edition of “Kapès Kannaval” where there were many prizes to win while the vast majority of “skin groups” gathered in Pointe-à-Pitre where there was nothing to gain except joy and total release. Unlike previous Sundays, these “skin groups” who wore old costumes started to parade through the streets a little earlier and ended very late at night, as if they already regretted the 2020 carnival which will end on Wednesday, February 26 with the death of King Vaval and they were enjoying this great popular festival without wasting a second…
