The 10th Curaçao International Film Festival takes place from April 10 to 14

Fans of the CIFF will still be watching all the films selected by the organizers for this 10th edition. For example, “Los Reyes de la Salsa” (2022), a film by Raúl Garcia based on the lives of Richie Ray and Bobby Cruz.
Long before the official launch of the festival, screenings were held to attract cinephiles. Indeed, on March 15, the film “20 000 Especies de Abejas” (2023), directed by Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren, premiered on the island. On March 27, it was the turn of “Orfeu Negro” – Black Orpheus (1959) and a local short film entitled “Memoria Dera” by Ralph Winedt. Then, “Buladó” and “Zulaika” were also screened free of charge as part of Pelíkula den Bario, on April 5 and 6.
Caribbean production occupies an important place in CIFF. The programme includes world premieres of short films by directors from Curaçao and Aruba: “Roba Alma” “Barbershop”, “Buskando Juni”, “I can’t be moe: alice ,van romondt” and “Nomade in Niemandsland”.
During the Film Fest, workshops will be organized. For example, Martin Koolhoven (Dutch director) will host two masterclasses, one of which will be dedicated to storytelling.
We will not forget the big quiz (in English and Dutch) on April 9 at the Grand Café Mahaai which will focus on Hollywood and festival cinema.
Music will also be celebrated with two performances by the Dennis Aalse Youth Orchestra on Wednesday April 10 at 7:00 pm at The Movies and on Saturday April 13 at 7:00 pm at the Renaissance Mall.
