Eight days of art, music, fashion, film and literature turn Jamaica’s capital into a living, walkable stage this December.
From December 6 to 13, 2026, Kingston will trade its everyday rhythm for eight days of art, sound and colour that run through the city like a heartbeat. Kingston International Festival Kingston International Festival
Under the theme “Feel the Pulse of Kingston,” the festival invites international visitors, art lovers and culture-seekers to experience the city through its artists. It’s a fitting extension of Kingston’s identity as a UNESCO Creative City; the same tempo that gave the world ska, reggae and dancehall now drives a citywide celebration of the arts, from gallery walls to the runway, the screen and the page.
Produced by Kingston Creative and supported by partners like the Jamaica Tourist Board, the Caribbean Development Bank, the National Gallery of Jamaica, AIRTS, Orange Park and Bad Art Gallery, KIF 2026 promises to become the city’s flagship arts festival.
Highlights across the week include:
- The Reggae Marathon: Runners take to the streets of Kingston at dawn on December 6 for the Reggae Marathon Run, the high-energy sporting event.
- National Gallery: Opening night at the National Gallery of Jamaica, launching the Festival with a red carpet event.
- A Multidisciplinary Lineup: fashion shows, film screenings, literary readings and dance performances staged alongside a strong visual arts programme, spotlighting the full breadth of Jamaican creative talent.
- Open Studios, Art Talks & Private Collection Tours: rare, guided access to the art collections of the National Gallery of Jamaica and other leading local collectors.
- Citywide Exhibitions: new shows opening across the city, in railway stations, galleries and unique spaces, plus digital, light and sound installations illuminating the city after dark.
- Jonkonnu Festival: a free, public block party highlighting Jonkonnu traditions including masquerade, drumming and dance passed down through generations, juxtaposed alongside sound systems, food and local artisans in downtown Kingston
Kingston is known to be a city that rewards the curious traveller. Timed for the week after Art Basel Miami, KIF 2026 gives international visitors an easy next stop, and exposure to a very different kind of arts city; walkable, warm, and rooted in community, one where music, dance, fashion and film are never far from the frame.
Alongside the exhibitions and parties, a series of workshops and artist talks will launch the Caribbean Creative Industries Toolkit, a new open-access resource for regional entrepreneurs. Artists and creatives are encouraged to apply to have their event included in the official Kingston International Festival (KIF) schedule.
