Once again this morning, several hundred people took part in the traditional “Mas Maten, Kongo-Karayib” parade, symbolizing the meeting between Africans and Native Americans in the Caribbean. Organized by the Point d’Interrogation group on the Saturday before “Fat Sunday”, this carnival event starts at around 9:00 am in Les Abymes, marches through Pointe-à-Pitre, and ends at Bas-du-Fort beach in Le Gosier around noon. This year, the Dominican Republic carnival group, Casilindo, was the organizers’ guest.
