Last December, Patricia Lollia presented her exhibition entitled “La Pli Bel Anba La Bay” at the Pavillon de la Ville in Pointe-à-Pitre. From May 16 to 20, the visual artist will be showing her same works at the cultural department of the Grand-Bourg town hall, as part of the Terre de Blues de Marie-Galante Festival, since the organizers have decided to combine music with visual arts during this edition.

The artist happily accepted this invitation to create a dialogue between these two major artistic disciplines : “This year, the plastic arts met music. That’s the originality of the 2024 edition. What could be more natural, given that they share a common objective: the expression of emotions (…) It’s true that each art has its own language and its own means of expression. But if we look closely, if we listen carefully, all these means work towards the same goal : affirming the human soul through an indefinable process. So, for a few days, we will be able to see music and listen to painting. In this rapprochement between the arts, new opportunities are emerging on the horizon : transforming the gaze, disrupting borders and arousing new perceptive attitudes”.

During these five days, Patricia Lollia awaits the public to celebrate these arts : “This is the place and the time where we make ourselves available for an appointment with the other. You take our time. We lose it too. But we always escape the dictatorship of urgency of things to do. The desire to do nothing and the desire to be together to share a musical experience is, probably, the main feature of this Festival. In these times of withdrawal, our presence on this Terre de Blues gives us the impression of being reborn. This adventure tastes like real life”, she says.
The opening of the “La Pli Bel Anba La Bay” exhibition will take place on Thursday May 16 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
