2nd edition of “A parte”, this big virtual competition for Dominican artists

The aim of this virtual competition of “Video Dance” and “Video Art”, organized by “ArtMo”, is to offer performing and visual artists from the Dominican Republic, a space to exhibit their creations. The deadline for submitting proposals is Saturday, September 25.

Artists wishing to participate in the second edition of the “A parte” competition, which encourages Dominican dancers, choreographers, actors, visual artists and filmmakers to create “Video Dance” and “Video Art”, have until Saturday, September 25 to submit their proposals.

The general production of this cultural initiative organized by “ArtMo”, is in charge of Cindy Galán, María Emilia García Portela and María Eugenia Vargas, who said that in “A parte”, the audiovisual works of competitors will generate an alternative virtual space for artistic expression : “We invite all artists to participate in this competition which gives them the opportunity to demonstrate the great talent of Dominican art”.

These organisers stressed that this edition will take place on Friday October 29, 2021, and will be free for both participants and spectators.

They also assured that “this cultural exchange transforms the symbolic content and services for our changing society, while creating a bilateral road to promote the orange economy and strengthen the identity by giving it an intangible value of country brand”.

Competition rules

Those interested in participating must create original videos of this year 2021. The source of inspiration is the Dominican identity. The categories to compete are “Video Dance” and “Video Art”. The deadline for submitting artistic proposals is Saturday, September 25, 2021.

Duration of videos : 1’00 to 5’00”. Proposals must comply with the musical copyright (free copyright). All types of video dance and video art using body language whose creation is linked with cinematographic language will be accepted, regardless of whether they have a documentary or animation character.

Each competitor may submit a maximum of two works per category. Interested artists must complete the form on the official “A Parte” website and send their videos to the following e-mail address aparte.rd@gmail.com.

The two best proposals in each category will be chosen by an expert committee composed of Patricia Ortega, Daymé del Toro, Stephanie Bauger, Ico Abreu and José Antonio Sánchez.

The list of pre-selected projects will be published on the official networks of the event and each selected participant will be contacted by email.
