From June 13 to 17, 2023 will take place the 15th edition of the Première Rencontre Autour du Piano festival, presented by the Gwadloup Groove association led by Steve Nuissier.
As usual, the musical event will take place in various places in Guadeloupe namely Les Abymes, Pointe-à-Pitre, Baie-Mahault and Goyave.
Martinican pianist Thierry Vaton will have the honor to launch the festival on Tuesday, June 13 at 8:00 pm at the Centre Culturel de Sonis in Les Abymes. He will perform tracks from his album “Bel Matjoukan” accompanied by Body Cereyon (bass), Emmanuel Berthelot (drums), Irving Acao (saxophone) and Nicolas Pelage (voice).
Finnish pianist Alexi Tuomarila will be on stage at Salle Tarer in Pointe-à-Pitre on Wednesday, June 14 at 8:00 pm, with a double bassist and a drummer.
Guadeloupean pianist Dominique Bérose will perform on Thursday, June 15 at 8:00 pm at the Centre Culturel Gérard Lockel in Baie-Mahault. The former member of the zouk band Volt Face who also played with Haitian artist Beethova Obas will be in concert with Alex Bernard (double bass), Dominique Bougrainville (drums) and Jean-Philippe Meyniac (saxophone).
Guadeloupean pianist and singer Clélya Abraham will be in concert on Friday, June 16 at 8:00 pm at the Palais de la Culture Félix Proto in Les Abymes. The young artist comes from a family of musicians: her father Harold is a pianist, her mother is a violinist, her brother Zacharie is a double bass player, her sister Cynthia is a percussionist and singer. For her first performance in Guadeloupe, the young woman will be with her quartet.
To close the festival on Saturday, June 17 at 8:00 pm at the Jardin d’Eau in Goyave, the organization has chosen Guadeloupean pianist Jonathan Jurion and his musicians. The artist will invite Guadeloupean singer Tanya Saint-Val who will not perform zouk but Caribbean jazz as well as the recently award-winning Guadeloupean drummer Arnaud Dolmen.
