The first virtual meeting with the audience will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, March 15, 2022, with the broadcast of the portrait of pianist Franck Amsallem.

Like many cultural events, the “Festival Première Rencontre autour du Piano” could not be held since the health crisis linked to the Covid-19 pandemic. In order to keep the festival alive by all means (interviews with pianists, images of the festival, educational aspects for young people, live), the association Gwadloup Groove received financial assistance from the Directorate of Cultural Affairs in Guadeloupe (DAC) to make a series of 6 portraits of pianists. Each film is 13 minutes long and will be broadcast on the websites www.rencontre-autourdupiano.com and www.antillesmedia.com as well as on the Première Rencontre autour du Piano Facebook page.

Three artists’ films are ready: Franck Amsallem, Sylvain Ransy and Mario Canonge. The 3 others are being prepared and will be dedicated to Alain Jean-Marie, Grégory Privat and Antoine Hervé.

“In these 6 portraits, we find, according to me, an extract of the quality of the festival by the career of these pianists who participated and some even several times. We have kept archival images since almost the beginnings of the festival in 2009 and I feel a sense of pride in seeing the work done. Through their testimonies, the pianists recognize the quality of the festival. In addition, there is a good coordination between the Paris crew led by Jazzandpeople, executive producer, who realized the interviews and the sound recording of the piano, and the Guadeloupe crew composed of Gwadloup Groove and Antilles Média who directed”, explained Steve Nuissier, the creator and artistic director of the festival.

The organizers are currently preparing the new edition of the “Festival Première Rencontre autour du Piano” which promises to be beautiful and will take place from June 10 to 17 in the halls of the Cap Excellence urban community (Pointe-à-Pitre, Les Abymes and Baie-Mahault).
